Work

Hi, I'm Iris, I am 13 and spend most of my free time sewing, drawing, writing stories and most other art related things. I especially love acting, and hope that one day I could take my passion and perform on screen in television.

If you're looking for my decodable books, you can download them from here. If you'd like to support my work (thanks!!) you can shout me a treat here.

Some examples of my favourite work are in the gallery below, and you'll find my 'creed' at the bottom of the page!

Comissioned soft toy: this was a likeness of a family pet made as a gift. A pig I made just for me. A siren character I drew for one of my stories. Another dog, for me. Acting as an ugly stepsister in a school production of Cinderella Rockerfella. Fox with moving limbs! A tortoise character I drew for another one of my stories. My first ever theatre role.

My Creed

by Iris Duncanson

I believe in looking for the silver lining of every stormy cloud.

I believe in love, compassion and being proud.

I believe in bare feet, in saying hello to every person you pass on the street.

I believe in talking to goats, in thick woollen winter coats.

I believe in imagination, and in determination.

I believe that stories and books shape us and make us who we are.

I believe that in every person there is a star.

I believe in the good company of trees.

I believe in love of bees.

I believe in treading your own path, whether that is sleeping all day or painting the birdbath.

I believe in being in my own little world. In imagining in every hollow a magnificent beast curled.

I believe in singing out loud. I believe in steering away from any very big crowd.

I believe in everyday magic. In being dramatic.

I believe in the preciousness of a tiny mouse. In a dusty old, slightly mouldy house.

I believe in trust, and that it can easily turn to dust.

I believe in hopes and dreams. In listening to the sound of bubbling streams.

I believe in walking my dog at night. In trying hard to avoid any chance of a fight.

I believe in the joy of being alive and free.

I believe in the beautiful smell of freshly picked rosemary.

I believe in simple acts of kindness.

I believe in peace.
